Martin has lived all his life in a large city, surrounded by plenty of friends in and neibourhood and online, as well as his family. The friends whom he so enjoyed the company of would all play games and such together, so they wound up being connected constantly. Upon hearing the news of SAO Martin and his friends all immediately signed up for the beta, however he was the only one who managed to get an early code. After the events of the beta, all of them got their hands on a release copy, and signed in to play immediately upon release, knowing they would have a massive advantage on entering thanks to the fact that Martin was in the beta. However this advantage would not last, as one by one, Martins friends began to disappear, killed off by the circumstances of the death game that was Sword Art Online.
